Here we have a stunning diamond brooch crafted during the late Victorian era. This piece has been exceptionally handcrafted from 18ct yellow gold into the shape of a flower with the edges tipped in platinum. The flower head, petals and stem have all been completely adorned with chunky round faceted old cut diamonds. The flower head moves with the motion of the wearer as it has been set on hinges which results in constant light being reflected from different angles.
“En tremblant” is a French term – meaning “to tremble”. It was first used to describe 18th and 19th-century jewellery where parts of the diamond set pieces were attached to a trembler (a material that acts as a spring such as a thin metal wire) to create movement in the jewel when worn.
